Next Department of Museum Studies Brown Bag Seminar - 13 May

Please note that for our next Brown Bag seminar we will be welcoming Professor Anthony Jackson, Professor of Educational Theatre at the University of Manchester. (Wednesday 13th May, 1pm, in the lecture room).

Title: "Engaging audiences: participation and 'unsettlement' in museum performance"

Description: In the context of our recent AHRC research project (Performance, Learning & Heritage), I will talk about some of the problems and possibilities of offering performance in the museum as a means of engaging and challenging the visitor; and I'll show/discuss a short extract from "This Accursed Thing", a performance commissioned by the research team in 2007, dealing with the abolition of the slave trade.

Please do put this in your diaries and come along as it should be fantastic! As always, we want to ensure a really good turn out. Tony is really looking forward to meeting us and having the opportunity to share his research.
